Create Company

Purpose:

This form allows you to create a new company in a remote server. The user does not need to have a local copy of SQL Server to create the new company. This process can be run when the BSC Food Distribution software is first installed to create the first test company or after the user already has a database in place and wants to create a new company. It is common to run a Data Load after this process is done to add more data to the database based in an existing one(See Data Load). This function will create a Database in a remote server. It will also add the SQL Server User Name and Password the BSC-Application uses. This function can only be done by a person who knows the administrator User Name and Password of the SQL Server where the database will be created. IN addition to this function should be protected with the Application Security (See Groups and Rights).

Usage:

Create a New Company from the Login Window:

1- Double Click on the BSC Food Distribution Icon placed in your desktop by the installation or Go to Start/Programs/BSC Food Distribution

2- After the Login Window Opens press the Connection tab

3- Enter the IP address of the computer running the Web services followed by "/" and the Virtual Directory name for the BSC Web services. In the case where the web server is running inside of your network you can enter the computer name instead of the IP.

4- Enter the Server Name. This should contain the name of the server where you want to create the new company database

5- Enter the name of the database/company you want to create

6- Press the "Create DB" Button

7- The IP, Server Name and Database name information is pre-filled from the information you entered before. However you can modify it here before creating the new company

8- Enter the User Name and Password for the SQL Server Administrator. This information is usually known by the database administrator

9- Check the "Chart of Accounts" option if you want to fill the new company with a general chart of Accounts

10- Check the "GL Account Ranges" option if you want to fill the GL Account Ranges Table with default values. We recommend to check this option if the Default Chart of Accounts is Loaded.

11- Pres the "Go" button to create the new company.

12- You will receive a message confirming the result of your actions. If the database cannot be created, you should check the connection information and try again.

Create a New Company from the Food Distribution Main Menu:

1- Click on File/Create Company
